Thursday, April 16; 63 miles and 2000 feet
Another sunny day! What a blessing!
We stopped at Lolol, a little artisan village that was also devastated by the 2010 earthquake, and has been rebuilt.

I guess that they are known for their wine and for their olive oil. I didn’t realize that Chile was known for olive oil.

Scenes from the road…

There are many shrines along the road -seemingly set up after a fatal accident. Does anyone know why this one has become a dumping ground for plastic bottles?

We rode past this guy just before arriving at our hotel.

The hotel that we stayed in is a historic building that was originally built in the 1700’s for Jesuit Priests. It was in the hands of a single family for about 6 generations before becoming a hotel.

Our room was above this cellar…

Anyone like creepy-crawlies? This guy was walking around outside one of the first-floor rooms. Sometimes it is okay to have to haul luggage up a flight of stairs.

The shower in this historic place as a solid 4. The water was hot…one of two lightbulbs in the room was burned out, the towels had a greater resemblance to sandpaper, there was a mirror at the foot of the shower and the water pressure was not the best. I guess I should have lowered my expectations given the historical nature of the property.
