TRIPLETT 2025 Coastal Ride

Bill and Lynne ride the Gulf coast

Foz do Iguacu

Thursday, May 14

Foz do Iguacu translates to “Iguacu mouth.” It is the mouth of the Iguacu River. We were here on the Argentina side in December. It is a very different falls today, since it is now late fall and more of the dry season. In De ember, it was early summer and just after the rainy season.

it is still an amazing sight and very pretty. There is a lot more green behind the water.

Here is a picture of the GF group from the U.S. I won’t ever get a job taking selfies.

The “Devil’s throat” is still spectacular in the dry season.

Here is a photo of the women trying to be silly.

Our wildlife journey today showed us several birds, including this Great Egret…

a hummingbird feeding…

and an “uncommon” Plush Crested Jay. He is pretty.

In addition, we saw several coatis, which must be the rodent of the falls, as we also saw them on the Argentina side.

Our timing was off by three days because on Sunday, they are having a half marathon and the route goes along the trail that leads to the falls. Bill would have enjoyed running that race.

They are getting the finish area all set up…

oh well…timing is everything.

As you can see, today was an off day because of the timing of site visits and the desire to see a Saturday program in action.

We had a driver take us from Cascavel to Iguacu, with the standard stop half way. Bill found a new friend at the stop. His mustache is made of two forks. I don’t know what material makes up the rest of him.

Finally, I forgot the shower rating yesterday. It was a solid 6. I can’t say the same for today’s shower. It is smaller and the water temperature control needs a little work. Not to mention that it is not free of mold and the towels were barely usable. All of that to say that the rating is a 4 and that might be generous, even though I know it doesn’t look bad.
