TRIPLETT 2025 Coastal Ride

Bill and Lynne ride the Gulf coast

Alligator Alley – Day 2

Day 19: Everglades City, FL to Miami-Kendall, FL; 68.5 miles, 87 degrees, 101 off the pavement

We rode about 59 miles on the Tamiami Trail today – across the rest of the Everglades and Big Cypress National Preserve.

We rode past the smallest post office in the U.S. – Thanks to David for taking a picture.

If I had known that it was such a popular post mark, I would have mailed my post cards here instead of Everglades City.

Parts of the ride were woodsy, and parts reminded me of the Savannah in Africa.

We did see some wildlife…and some roadkill including a couple alligators and a couple of very large turtles or tortoises…LOL

Our second stop today was at a gas station and general store in an Indian Village.

We hit a bit of construction the last 11 miles on the Tamiami Trail…with the best part the three sections with no shoulder.

There were some really pretty spots along the way and the last few miles heading into the general store, we enjoyed a show of Florida birds…lovely.

Today’s shower is an 8.

Hi Lynne, Love your blog! Looks like some interesting stops along this route. Hopefully the group is able to move on today with the bush fire obstacle!

Well it sounds like the hot weather is โ€ฆโ€ฆ..challenging. Better than a hurricane ๐Ÿ˜. And you are just about at the finish line. ๐Ÿšดโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿšดโ€โ™‚๏ธ
