Day 18: Naples, FL to Everglades City, FL; 35.0 miles – HOT!
This post is late because the internet was spotty last night, but really, I was TOO TIRED!
It was a shorter riding day, but we were tired from four longer hot days and we had a later start, making it a hotter ride across the first part of what is known as Alligator Alley – US 41, or the Tamiami Trail – between Naples and Miami. Lots of brown and no alligators.

Our rest stop was here.
We stopped at Everglades City. First stop for us was the Visitor Center to get the Everglades National Park passport stamp.

Our hotel had no power until about 4 pm, because the power company was replacing poles yesterday.

Since there wasn’t great comfort sitting around the hotel, several of us decided to take an airboat ride through the Mangroves.

I know you are all wondering what wildlife we saw on the airboat tour…one dolphin dove under our boat about 3 minutes from the end. This boat is named the Doll Finn. It looks barely seaworthy.

The shower was a 6,5.
