Day 23 / July 29 / Deadwood, SD to Rapid City, SD / 86.0 miles and 5,738 feet / 100+ degrees

It’s a bit delayed for a few reasons, but here is our post for Monday, July 29. We’ve had a few days of spotty internet.

We started the day on the Mickelson Trail, which is a 109-mile-long crushed limestone trail that goes from Deadwood, SD to Edgemont, SD. The route on Monday only went 50 miles (including 4 tunnels) on the Mickelson Trail and then turned off to pass Mount Rushmore before finishing in Rapid City.

In 2021, we covered the entire length of the Mickelson Trail over four days of riding. Monday, we covered half of it before an additional 38 miles of riding. It was another long, hot day of riding.
