Day 13 – Cold, wet, and rainy
We started the day with a Special Operations Boat ride. That translates to a 16-passenger boat that is easier to get in and out of than the zodiac. The boat ride took us around the bay. There were lots of fur seals playing in the water and we even saw Gentoo penguins porpoising. That was fun.

The baby fur seals are so much fun to watch.

We also saw a small colony of king penguins with an elephant seal right in the middle of the pack.

In the afternoon, we bundled up for our zodiac landing on Whistle Cove. It was really raining at that time and the fur seals were very aggressive/friendly, it was hard to keep 15 feet between us and them.

The king penguins are fun to watch strut around.

These three appear to be discussing where to have coffee…

For all the beauty of yesterday’s sunny day, today was about the opposite, but it was still great to have the chance to see the wildlife.

Our room on Octantis is the first room to the left of the lifeboats. It is really a good location for getting to the stairs to visit other floors and for going to the auditorium, which is at the back of the ship.
Doesn’t Bill look happy in the cold and rain? We use the walking sticks to plant between us and the fur seals if they start to get too close.

Finally, these two kings are talking about the shower rating on this rainy day…I hear they rated it a solid 9.

Love the penguins in the foreground of the photo of your ship.
