TRIPLETT 2025 Coastal Ride

Bill and Lynne ride the Gulf coast

Iguazu Falls…

Day 3 – Bicycles, a jungle truck, a speed boat, and a train

Today was another beautiful sunny day in Iguazu.

We had an early start to the day with a 6:30 am pick up to go to a nearby ‘village’ for some bicycle riding. It really wasn’t much riding, but it was a two-hour activity between the bike fitting and two information stops along the way. We also did some “warm up” exercises before riding. : – ) Bill has picked up a new name, Marie – which is my middle name, but for some reason they had a bike for Lynne (they call me “line”) and Marie, but no bike for Bill. LOL

After the bike ride, we were transported back to the hotel for a “proper” breakfast before heading out on foot to catch the “jungle truck” for a ride to the drop-off point for the walk down 200 steps to the speed boat.

The speed boat took us up the river to the falls. The ride included a shower with a “wash” cycle and two rinses. LOL – three dips under the spray of the falls. We were drenched and there was no way to avoid it, but it was a hoot and it was a warm day, so the water felt good.

Following our morning shower, we returned up the steps to the jungle truck and the ride back to the starting point. It was a very short walk from there to the restaurant for lunch. After lunch, we took an electric train to a drop-off point where we walked 1.5 miles to the “Devil’s throat” of the falls. It is the point in the small horseshoe where the greatest volume of water drops. It is especially heavy right now.

We walked back to the train for the return trip. We ended the 12-hour day with a hike on the lower falls trail. I think you get the best view from that trail.

The falls are the widest falls in the world and are actually made up of 275 different waterfalls of many different sizes. Even a waterfall within a waterfall, which you can see at the bottom of the left waterfall in the photo below.

Some of the creatures we saw along the way today:

Tiger lizard

Common catfish…

Another sidewalk lizard. LOL

Beautiful butterflies…

Coatis – our group here in Iguazu Falls was divided into two – the monkeys and coatis, and we are part of the coatis, so it was nice to see a few to know what they look like.

And finally, you know how much I like flowers…
