TRIPLETT 2025 Coastal Ride

Bill and Lynne ride the Gulf coast

A real bike trail and more time on US 41

Day 16: Bradenton, FL to Punta Gorda, FL; 70.6 miles, 90 degrees

The further south we go, the warmer the temperatures, but today we enjoyed a tailwind for much of the last two segments of riding. We also enjoyed about 12 miles on a real bike trail, the Legacy Trail.

We had lunch at the historic Venice Depot park.

After we left the Legacy Trail we were fortunate enough to head back out to the Tamiami Trail and similar busy roads with four-foot shoulders (Woo hoo!!!). There were a few things along the “trail” that caught our eye. Notice the passenger on the back of the trailer below…hang on, big guy!

Alligator Drive

Our afternoon stop was at an ice cream shop. Always a welcome treat!

More sights along the way…

Ark Animal

Our hotel had a great rooftop restaurant – you can see the bridge we crossed in the left of the picture below.

Finally, here’s a look at an award-winning shower. It’s only a 9.5 because of the quirky handle.

I love that you got a real trail. When I see you riding on the bridge with water that close, it freaks me out😁. I’m super impressed
