Day 18 / July 24 / Lovell, WY to Sheridan, WY / 99.3 miles, 7761 feet of climb / 102 degrees
Today was the stretch with the most climbing of the entire trip. For those of you that do better with visuals, here is a screen shot of the route from Ride with GPS. The climb between mile 20 and mile 40 had an 11 mile stretch at between 9 to 12%, with small stretches of 16%.

I took most of the climbing off – in the words of the group, I got a “bump.” No way I could have made that climb. Bill on the other hand, rode every mile and then some since he missed the first turn and got a few miles down the road before he was turned around. It was a miscommunication with one of the bike guides.

It was much more scenic today, especially on the downhill side of the mountain, but the view of the road they climbed was also incredible.

Of course, what would be a hard day without another journey on I-90. Today it was just a couple of miles so it went pretty quickly.
The highlight of my ride was coming upon a group along the side of the road watching a few moose…

And, for those of you keeping track of the motels…tonight we are back in a brand name, Best Western.
