Day 10 / July 16 / Kamiah, ID to Lolo Hot Springs, MT / 114.7 miles 5978 feet / 95 degrees

Today we were on US 12 the entire way, again along the Clearwater River. It was uphill all day with a nice climb between mile 100 and 109. The ride would have been labeled in the top five all time for us, but for the ten miles of roadwork where there was no shoulder and plenty of gravel. We finished at Lolo Hot Springs Lodge. They have a couple of hot springs pools that we enjoyed at the end of the day.

There was a bit of shade along the way and the temperatures were much cooler for most of the day. We started our ride before 6 am PT and it was about 55 degrees. Very nice riding weather.

We crossed into Washington at the top of Lolo Pass – and lost an hour as we are now in the Mountain time zone.

By the way, this post is a day late because Lolo has no cell service and terrible internet as noted on the sweatshirt in the gift shop. We had no cell service for the entire day. Not a bad way to spend a day along the river – cycling with no interruptions.
