TRIPLETT 2025 Coastal Ride

Bill and Lynne ride the Gulf coast

Short ride into Missoula

Day 11 / July 17 / Lolo Hot Springs to Missoula / 37 miles 667 feet / 95 degrees

Today was a relatively short ride into Missoula so we got to sleep in. Our ride didn’t start until 10 am. What a nice break!

I was awarded Elmo last night for helping with lunch. Elmo is a tradition with the company supporting us on this ride. He is passed from rider to rider and the individual holding Elmo decides who gets Elmo next. He is transferred either for something good that the person does or something ‘ridiculous’ like the guy who rode all day with his hotel key cards in his socks. Elmo rode in the frame bag on the front of my bike.

The ride was mostly downhill. We had a water stop with a view of Lolo Peak towering at 9000 feet with a few patches of snow in mid-July.

We had time in town to check out the headquarters of Adventure Cycling. Exciting for certain members of the group. Of course, one of the highlights was the door handles made of handlebars.

Grateful to hear the reason for no post yesterday was because of no internet or Wi-Fi .

Yes, it was an interesting place. Crossed the continental divide today…we must be almost to the Atlantic Ocean. LOL

I’m enjoying the narrative and photos! Glad you had a day of rest and an easy day after that day climbing uphill all day! I can’t imagine!
Elmo looks so cute on your bike!

Glad you are enjoying the posts. It’s a bit more of a photo journal, but makes for a good reminder for me, as well. Have we made any progress on MN? I can look and book hotels this weekend on my off day, if needed.
