Day 46 / Aug 21 / Rochester, NY to Cicero, NY / 96.5 miles and 1,916 feet / 60 degrees and rain
We were back on the Erie Canalway Trail today for about 45 miles. That’s a lot of quicksand – especially when it is raining on and off. There also were places with standing water along the trail so we had a choice to either ride through the puddles or try to go around on the grass. Many chose to go straight through and so by the time we got off the trail there was a lot of mud on our bikes and on our bodies.

The trail is less traveled in some spots. Grass has overgrown the trail and it is more like a single walking track.

There were some pretty flowers along the trail.

We were glad to get back on the road.

The rider who was Elmo’s caretaker for the day took some photos of all of us early in the ride when it looked like it might be a nice day.
