TRIPLETT 2025 Coastal Ride

Bill and Lynne ride the Gulf coast

RAGBRAI DAY 4

Forest City to Iowa Falls 69 miles of brutal headwind and heat and humidity

Other than the weather, this was a calm day compared to what we saw yesterday. The towns we stopped i. We’re much smaller and didn’t do quite as much…other than providing food and beverage options.

Since it was a quiet day on the road, I will tell you a little about the riders we have seen. There are quite a few “challemge athletes” who have one disability or another. Ther are several blind stokers riding on the back of tandems. There are hand pedal bikes, including some where the riders are almost horizontal.

There also is Dan and his bicycle, which is aptly named Lucky Penny.

We passed two triplets, one with dad and two boys and the other with mom and two girls. That’s one adventurous family and two energetic parents.

There are at least three young men on unicycle.

And this guy…

There also are the “Field of Dreamers.” If you have seen the movie Field of Dreams, you may remember the scene where the character walks into the corn field and disappears. Well, quite frequently along the route, you can spot someone disappear into the corn (after leaving their bike by the side of the road) and then reappear a little while later…it is generally a man…???🙃

The best shower yesterday was provided by a fire department in one of the small towns. There was a shower spraying out of the frame.

A little art along the route.

Good thing they had this sign on the road. No one would have known that there were bikes on the road. LOL

The day was capped off with a 5 hour overnight thunderstorm.

This peek into your ride is amazing! I am so impressed with your physical strength and endurance. I have witnessed these characteristics in serving alongside you—now exhibited physically—a double blessing.

Hope there were no metal poles in your tent!
