Day 40 / Aug 15 / Owosso, MI to Shelby, MI / 77.4 miles and 1,662 feet / 81 degrees
Our day started as the sun rose so that we could get off the road before afternoon traffic got bad…I’m not sure we were successful in that endeavor. Oh, and we also ate breakfast at BJ’s.

Today we spent time riding on a few country roads, but most of the day was spent in urban areas, which means more traffic. And, I can say that Eastern Michigan is clearly not a “share the road” area. We were yelled and honked at numerous time this afternoon.

In between the morning ride in the country and the busy roads, we spent more time on a rail trail, the Paint Creek Trail. The trail was better riding than yesterday’s trail, but just as pretty.

Today’s lunch spot was a trail head on the Paint Creek Trail.

Our hotel yesterday was photo worthy. It’s the Pines Country Inn…note the pine trees in front. They were the only trees in the area. Also, we couldn’t decide if the building was an old office building that had been converted or something else before it was a hotel.

I couldn’t resist Googling the motel. Unsurprisingly, that is not the photo they share on their website. They go for more of mysterious visual
