Day 9 / July 15 / Clarkston, WA to Kamiah, ID / 69.3 miles 2543 feet / 95 degrees

Today we crossed the Snake River and left Washington behind to spend the day along the Clearwater River in Idaho. The Clearwater River is a tributary of the Snake River, which is a tributary of the Columbia River. We were cycling on the Lewis & Clark Trail, also known as the Northwest Passage Scenic Byway. It was really nice scenery after the brown and amber of the past few days. We even have trees to provide shade again.

We finished our ride with a dip in the Clearwater. It was very refreshing. Our evening will be spent in the aptly named Clearwater 12 Motel in Kamiah, ID, a town of about 1,500 people. The Clearwater 12 is a bit better than probably comes to your mind when you think of such a place. There are even flecks of something sparkly in the river. Perhaps we should spend our night panning for gold.

So… is the Clearwater 12 twice as nice as a Motel 6?
And glad you found some shade!
We wondered the same thing, but actually, the Clearwater 12 is at least 20 times as nice as the Motel 6. I’ll be able to compare it to Super 8 in a few days. LOL
Gorgeous scenery
A dip in the water looks refreshing!
