Day 6 / July 12 / 57 miles / 1737 feet / 100 degrees / little wind

I thought we had left the Columbia River behind yesterday, but I was wrong. Today, we again rode on the Columbia River Highway on our way to Walla Walla, WA and had a lovely view of the river. It is a beautiful road, but there is a lot of truck traffic, so we were happy to turn off on to a less traveled road. Unfortunately, it was chip seal, which is not the best riding surface for mile after mile of pedaling.

We left Oregon behind and entered Washington to find Walla Walla sweet onions and cherries for sale at local stands. We also found the streets bounded by amber waves of grain.

Our overnight is at the Marcus Whitman hotel in Walla Walla, WA. By far the best hotel yet, even though their phones seem to be from another era.

Yes, Bill did bring his best t-shirts from 2005 and 2006.

To all our family and friends – as seen on the side of a building in Touchet, WA…

Oh my goodness, I am feeling a little sad knowing you have already left Oregon. Praying for continued safety, healing and a tailwind😊❤️
Glad you made it through Oregon! Congratulations. Beautiful pictures. I recognized most of the pictures and Marus Whitman great place to stay. I have been in it but never stayed there. Keep on pedaling and wish the very best for you. Also great to see you before you started.
Greg – thanks again for your wonderful hospitality last week and please give our thanks to Karen, as well. We really enjoyed the time at your house and I learned that I need to work on my corn hole game. I hope you had a great time in Washington!
