Oh boy! Another day on U.S. 98
Day 12: Chiefland, FL to Crystal River, FL, 45 miles, 83 degrees So, another day on U.S. 98. It’s starting to feel like the Erie Canal of 2024…too many days on the same straight path. After one mile on the trail today, my route said, “end of route 44 miles.” No turns, just straight road.

Love the sun, love the ride
Day 11: Perry, FL to Chiefland, FL; 64.9 miles, again on Highway 98, 86 degrees So, we quickly figured out the gist of today’s ride. We turned out of the hotel parking lot and I looked down at my Garmin, the route instructions said, “left turn in 43 miles.” Ha ha…another long stretch of Highway

Day 10: Crawfordville, FL to Perry, FL; 54.6 miles, 82 degrees Today was the second day in row that we spent all or most of the day on U.S. 98. It was a shorter route today – only 54.6 miles and it was all inland so there were no views of the bay or beautiful

Oyster capital, fog, and U.S. Highway 98
Day 9: Port St Joe, FL to Crawfordville, FL; 73.9 miles, fog, sun and 89 degrees So, who knew, but Apalachicola, FL is the proclaimed Oyster Capital of the World, but we did not see any oysters LOL. Gulf Islands National Seashore
Day 5: Pensacola, FL to Destin, FL with bridges and seashore and lots of traffic in Destin; 55 miles, 82 degrees We spent half the day on a busy highway as we traveled through Fort Walton and Destin. We didn’t see any living fish today, but we did see this guy holding up a mailbox.
